Reports

Which report do I need?

Profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow, who owes you, and what to send your accountant.

  • Profit and loss: did I make money? Income minus expenses for any period.
  • Balance sheet: what the business owns and owes on a date.
  • Statement of cash flows: why the bank balance went up or down.
  • Accounts receivable aging / Customer balances: who owes you, and how late.
  • Accounts payable aging / Vendor balances: who you owe.
  • Sales tax liability: tax collected and paid, by period and rate.
  • Trial balance, General ledger, Journal: for your accountant.
  • Customer and vendor contact lists, Product/service list: everyone's details and everything you sell, to print or download.

Change what a report shows

On the profit and loss, choose the Report period (or your own From and To dates), Display columns by months or quarters, or Compare to the previous period or year, then press Run report. Click any account to see the transactions behind it. The balance sheet can show any date, and the same day last year beside it.

Star the reports you use most on the Reports page: they stay at the top under Favorites.

Every report can be printed, and most can be downloaded as a CSV for Excel or Google Sheets. At tax time, your accountant usually wants the profit and loss, the balance sheet and the general ledger for the year.
