Sales tax

File and pay sales tax

See what you collected each period, by rate, and record what you paid.

  1. 1In Sales Tax, say who you file with and how often (monthly, quarterly or yearly).
  2. 2Each period shows your taxable and non-taxable sales and the tax collected, split by rate: what you need for the return. With saved rates, it's split by agency too (a combined rate is split back into each tax), with what you've paid each one.
  3. 3When you pay, press Record payment on that period and choose the account you paid from (and, if you file with more than one agency, who you paid).

You owe now is always what's in your books. The payment matches the withdrawal in Bank transactions, so it isn't counted twice.

Got a discount for filing on time, a credit, or a penalty or interest? Open the period and press Add adjustment. It changes what's left to pay for that period and goes into your books.

In Canada, enter the GST/HST you paid in the GST/HST column on bills and expenses. It's claimed back as an input tax credit: each period shows it, and it comes off what's left to pay.

Home reminds you when a return is due within two weeks, and again if it's late.
