Reconcile an account with your statement

Check your books match the bank, statement by statement.

Reconciling proves your books match what the bank says, so nothing is missing or counted twice. Do it each month when a statement arrives.

  1. 1Go to Accounting › Reconcile and choose the account.
  2. 2Enter the statement's end date and ending balance (the first time, also its beginning balance).
  3. 3Tick each transaction that appears on the statement. Watch the difference.
  4. 4When the difference is exactly $0.00, press Finish.

A difference usually means a transaction hasn't been posted yet, was posted twice, or has a different amount. Check Pending first.

Reconciled transactions are locked so the statement can't quietly change. To change one, undo the latest reconciliation for that account first.
